ALIEN INFLUENCE
When I first conceived of this warlock pact, I was pretty sure that I would be unable to find the art required to give it a just presentation. I only had a couple of publications on the DMsGuild at the time and had used a few art packs from DriveThruRPG. On a whim, I reached out to one of the artists from a pack I had recently picked up - Daniel Comerci. Not only was he talented, but the options he had for licensing really worked with my budget.
A few days later there was a lull in the workflow at my full-time job (that NEVER happens now) and I hammered out an initial draft in a couple of hours. I loved how much of the science fantasy flavor involved very little in the way of new mechanics, it was mostly down to how things triggered and the narrative that built expectations. Expedition to the Barrier Peaks was constantly on my mind as I was preparing this.
This was massively fun to put together and I keep coming back to some of the science fantasy ideas I first put together here (the utility drone from this work got to move into the spotlight with the Monsters of the Guild project!). I would love to see them form the foundation of a larger science fantasy campaign setting.
