DREAD NECROMANCER
The Dread Necromancer was my first publication on the DMsGuild. A close friend was a big fan of the 3rd edition class and I was away from home for 6 weeks attending job training. My evenings were free and I was far from my family and friends and so I set to the task of converting the class into the newly released 5th edition. I wanted to make sure that even though this was a dark character option, there was still room for heroism. Fell Power and Dread Callings were the way of capturing that vile power that fuels the class without the player needing to embrace villainy.
The class also includes a number of alternative options. Most dread necromancers are assumed to eventually become liches, but there are other fascinating undead creatures that share thematic overlap. By providing alternative options I was able to preserve the core of the class while still being free to explore other approaches to certain class features or styles of gameplay. Currently, the mummy and baelnorn appear in the product. When I eventually have time to revise the material I intend to add options for vampires as well.
