THE ADVENTURE HACK

The first tabletop RPG I ever played was the 3rd edition of Dungeons and Dragons. I subsequently played 3.5e, 4e, and 5e as each was released. A not-insignificant amount of my creative effort over the years has gone into the fantasy dungeon-delving, forest-exploring genre. But Wizards of the Coast has seen a lot of controversy over the years. Unsavory contributors to 5th edition were struck from credits in the reprints. People that spoke up were doxed. The use of racist tropes continues unabated.

Even before plans for the future of the OGL were revealed, I was looking for an off ramp. A game that could satisfy my keen desire for that typical fantasy adventure. Black Hack 2e was the first to really stick with me and I took advantage of the legacy content available as Open Game Content through the OGL 1.0a to build the Adventure Hack - new classes, spells, and summonable creatures for the Black Hack 2e designed to capture my favorite bits of traditional Dungeons and Dragons content.

There is a lot to recommend about the Black Hack 2e, but I think this bundle of toys can fill that D&D itch for anyone that wants out from under Hasbro's thumb.
